What does Casie do?

She blogs, she blogs and blogs and… she works full time. She’s busy, that’s what she says, but she’s still got a lot of energy and would be bored if she wasn’t doing stuff all the time.

Casie- the Torontonian girl

Casie- the Torontonian girl

The company she works for is in downtown Toronto, and specializes in online marketing and web development. She updates her blog daily and it is called casie stewart: this is my life. She writes about people, places, things, thoughts and she started it in 2006 for the simple reason of keeping more memories. It’s worked wonders.

How does Casie live?

She lives a very fast paced downtown life. She went green; she rides her bike or walk almost everywhere she goes including work. On a regular day, she wake up and checks her blackberry that gets three incoming email addresses and has two incoming phone numbers. She usually sends her first Tweet before she gets out of bed (Pictures speak louder than words) and she Tweet all day from Blackberry, Web or Tweetdeck.

Casie’s hobbies:

AH! She spends a lot of time on the internet, obviously! She’s also quite artsy and creative. She has a site called http://borderlineartistic.me where she posts most of her sketches, drawings and some poetry. She likes to make stuff. She learned how to sew when she was really young and enjoys making clothes. She writes a lot. She carries her Moleskin wherever she goes. She wrote a poetry book when she was 14 and has been writing ever since. She’d like to publish another book by early 2010.

Casie’s activities:

It’s her bike again; she likes riding her bike and hates the gym.

Edge Festival

She bikes to the beaches then back downtown Toronto and visits friends for a whole day.

It’s the most fun and she feels so free just riding around with the wind in her hair. She likes yoga but only does it at home when she feels like it.

One activity that is constraint no matter what she’s doing is Twitter. It’s rare that a couple hours go by in a day where she hasn’t posted a picture or a Tweet related to what she’s doing at the time. Oh, she blogs too, that’s an activity!

How Casie uses Twitter?

She started on Twitter late 2008 and didn’t really gets into it hard core until January 2008. She was on the Toronto PR Team for Twestival 2009. It was the largest and most awesome Twitter event ever held. TwestivalTO alone raised over $10,000, which was enough to build two wells through Charity: Water in developing countries. She met so many great people through that experience and started to get more followers. She loved the connections she was making with people all around the world and added a slice of Twitter to her life. Since Twestival, she’s helped out with some cool Twitter organized events including #pibTO, #genyto, #netchange.

She uses Twitter to share random thoughts, promote her blog, connects with people, has a good laugh, learns about cool stuff and stays on the cutting edge of news. She gets asked quite often to re-tweet things people are doing ex. charity events to raise awareness and spread the word. It’s cool being a PR person with a blog because she believes she can help out people supporting good causes.

What does Casie tweet about?

she tweets about everything she feels like. If I has a reaction to something and feels like sharing it, she tweets.

Being Interviewed

Being Interviewed

She takes pictures of random stuff and uploads to Twitpic. She thinks things are funny that she overhears and starts those Tweets with ‘OH’. She uses hashtags alot. She’s been called out for #hashtagabuse and also called #hashtagprincess. She started #Twabe and she also does #spadinawatch. They’re just silly things that came into her head and she unleashes them on Twitter whenever she feels like it.

What are the benefits of Casie’s tweeting:

1) She gets to unleash her crazy. That’s the biggest benefit.

Sometimes people reply and sometimes they don’t. Either way, she gets to let out her thoughts or shares something creative.

2) A big benefit is how much she learns from people on a daily basis. She finds that in a day she takes in so much information that when she’s not online she knows about all kinds of things before others and gets to look like the smart kid. She gets to know lots of funny stuff too. Her mum likes reading her Tweets cause she finds out all kinds of good stuff.

How did Casie relate Twitter to her business and her fun life?

On her blog, she has a Twitter widget that shows recent Tweets with a Follow button on it. She’s integrated Twitter into her commenting system using http://disqus.com. For her, it’s convenient because blog readers can login using Twitter or Facebook Connect and have the comment Tweeted or updated to their Facebook status. She’s found she gets a good flow of traffic from her Tweets.

She started blogging because she doesn’t have that great of a memory. She’ had friends get mad that she never remembers things and now she doesn’t really have that problem anymore. Since she Tweets all the time she can send herself reminders or look back and remember what she did last Saturday etc. It’s very convenient when you have a busy life.
